Fired up by anniversary Suzuki superbike

A very special limited edition Suzuki took pride of place in our showroom window recently, ahead of being delivered to one lucky customer.

The GSX-R1000R 100th Anniversary Edition is limited to just 100 bikes in the UK.

The flagship superbike sports, released to celebrate Suzuki’s 100th anniversary, has the same retro-inspired livery as the GSX-RR MotoGP racers. The traditional blue and slate silver colour scheme pays homage to Suzuki’s early grand prix machines of the 1960s.

It also uses the race bike’s variable valve timing system to boost torque and peak power and gets a comprehensive suite of electronics, which includes 10 traction control modes, a quickshifter and auto-blipper, launch control and lean angle-sensitive ABS.

The £16,999 100th Anniversary Edition superbike comes as Suzuki Ecstar riders Alex Rins and Joan Mir are setting the pace with the team leading MotoGP.

This year marks the centenary of the inception of the Suzuki Loom Manufacturing Co. It began building motorbikes in 1952 with the launch of the Power Free. Two years later it changed its name to Suzuki Motor Co.

Director Dave Willis said: “The Suzuki GSX-R1000R is a great bike, one of the best supersports models on the market, and this one is extra special.

“Our customer is very lucky to get one of these special anniversary bikes which were very quickly snapped up by dealers and customers. But if you’re interested, we might be able to get one from another dealer.”
