Clean sweep for dirt bikes riding dusty trail

We like to go the extra mile for our customers but riding more than 200, many of them off road, on a hot, dry, dusty day to put KTM enduros through their paces is dedication to duty.

Director Rob Walters and general manager Dave Forster, along with one our customers, took on the gruelling green lane challenge of the ‘Dawn Till Dusk’ ride, staged by Suffolk Trail Riders.

The guided run, late last month, took them from the Cambridgeshire/Essex border, up through Breckland and on to North-West Norfolk before swinging round and heading back. The ride takes in 80 green lanes.

Our three riders chose two-stroke KTM 250 EXC enduros for their trusty transport. It turned out to be a long, difficult day but the bikes came through it with flying colours with the very tired riders still on board.

Green lane trail riding is a new experience for Rob and Dave. The idea was to get first-hand experience of how the KTMs performed off road so they can share their experiences with customers now we’re also a KTM off-road franchise.

The trio covered around 240 miles, riding for 13 hours, which gave a valuable insight into these impressive performers.

Dave said: “All three KTMs were absolutely faultless to ride all day. They were a doddle to ride off road because they’re so light.

“Everyone survived, despite a couple of little crashes but nothing too serious.

“It was incredibly dusty. The worst things were the heat and dust. In some places you could hardly see anything at all.

“But we really enjoyed doing it and will definitely be back to do more trail riding.”

In fact, Dave enjoyed it so much he is now thinking of trying enduro racing.
