Workshop role dream job for Mark

POSTED: 30/07/2022

Meet Mark Kimble who has swapped bicycles for motorbikes and joined our workshop team.

He was a bicycle mechanic and, before joining us, managed the workshop at a major national cycle retailer’s branch at Martlesham.

Mark, 33, is another of our regular customers whom we’ve welcomed to our team.

He’s had about a dozen bikes since he was 17 but most were 125s as he passed his big bike test only a couple of years ago. He now rides a KTM Duke 890 R.

Currently our trainee technician, he’s already completed his KTM bronze training and is now going on to do silver.

He’s helping build new motorbikes when they arrive at the dealership, carrying out pre-delivery inspections, checking and preparing used motorbikes for sale and doing routine maintenance and oil changes.

Mark, who is Ipswich born and bred, said: “I like working on motorbikes all the time. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

“It’s pretty much my dream job.”

But he still enjoys pedal power too and goes mountain biking.

While he has always been involved in maintaining two-wheelers, motorbikes are a new challenge.

“With bicycles, once you know how they work you fix them. But, with motorbikes, there are different issues and all bikes are different – single cylinder, twins, triples and fours.

“You’re not fixing the same sort of bikes every day.”
