Willis junior joins workshop team as apprentice

The names Willis and Walters are synonymous with Orwell Motorcycles.

Ray Walters founded the business and, when he retired, younger brother Rob and best friend Dave Willis took over.

Now the family business link has been enhanced with another Willis joining the team.

Dave’s son, Joe, is our new full-time workshop apprentice.

Joe, 16, is no newcomer to the business having helped out on Saturdays and during school holidays which gave him a taste for the business.

He has started online training and, under the supervision of our workshop team, is carrying out simple maintenance tasks, cleaning and valeting and uncrating and helping to assemble new motorbikes.

It was a 1976 Garelli moped, which he worked on as a school project a couple of years ago, that fired his enthusiasm for joining the workshop team.

“Once I started working on my first project bike I realised it was what I wanted to do,” he explained.
