Strong September maintains soaring sales momentum

POSTED: 01/10/2026

It’s not just temperatures that hit new highs this year – sales of new motorbikes have been soaring too.
We’ve just had one of our best Septembers for many years with strong sales of models bearing the new 76-registration plate.
Our sales have been helped by now having five brands with CFMOTO joining Kawasaki, KTM, Royal Enfield and Suzuki this year.
New motorbike and scooter sales are 16% up nationally on last year and still maintaining the momentum.
Dealer principal Mark Trench said: “We didn’t have CFMOTO last year so that has been some of the growth.
“Kawasaki is flying for us and Suzuki has grown market share hugely. They are all growing their market and we’ve been helping their growth.”
KTM and Royal Enfield continue to put in strong performances against increasingly stiff competition.
Director Dave Willis said: “It’s been a really good year. We’ve had a cracking year for new bike sales. Kawasaki is the standout brand, Suzuki is performing strongly and CFMOTO has been excellent although we haven’t always had stock but that is improving.”
By mid-August Suzuki GB’s sales were more than 1,000 units up year-on-year.
The 62% sales rise meant it had sold more motorbikes by August this year than in the whole of 2025.
Dave felt Orwell’s KTM sales in recent years had been boosted by fantastic deals and offers to help clear stock of older models. Now the new stock is holding its own.
He also thought a lot of people had held off buying a new motorbike because they were deterred by all the bad news around the world. Now they have put their worries behind them and decided to invest in a new motorbike.
“Sales haven’t gone crazy but it’s decent market growth. It’s only bringing things back to where they were pre-Covid,” he added.
