Warming to winter with sensible clothing

The summer weather has not been brilliant, with more rain than we would have liked, but now temperatures are dropping.

But, with the right clothing, you can still enjoy warm, dry rides.

Richard Paine, our general manager, said: “Decent insulation, base layers and waterproof clothing are the key to survival during the winter months.”

We carry a large stock of all-season riding gear but here are a couple of clothing ranges that are affordable, practical and easy to stow on your motorbike in case you need them on your ride.

Oxford has a good reputation for producing quality, affordable motorbike products and it has a range of advanced base layers.

They are thermal, wick moisture and are seamless for added comfort.

They come in three sizes – small/medium, large/extra large and 2XL/3XL – and stretch for a snug fit.

The charcoal marl top is £24.99 and the long pants £19.99.

No one likes getting caught in the rain but Alpinestars Hurricane Rain V2 clothing is a packable solution to keep you dry if the weather turns wet.

The jacket and pants are easy to put on quickly over your normal riding clothing.

They are ultra-lightweight, made from 100% waterproof, breathable and wind-resistant laminated fabric with inner comfort mesh lining. Easy to fold up, they can be packed quickly into a convenient built-in carrying pouch and stowed away until needed.

Available in XS to 3XL sizes, the jacket is £59.99 and the pants £43.

Richard said: “They pack into their own bag, integral to the jacket and pants, so are a very neat solution when it comes to rainwear.”
