The first of KTM’s new large-capacity motorbikes have arrived at our showroom.
It’s been a long wait, after KTM’s financial problems and company restructuring last year delayed production, but they’re finally starting to trickle through to the dealership.
Some are going straight out again to customers who have patiently waited for orders to be fulfilled.
We received a new KTM 1390 Super Adventure S and middleweight 990 RC R supersport and 990 Duke R naked models towards the end of last month. The 990 models were already sold.
Still to come are the new 2026 1390 Super Adventure R and S Evo.
Even though KTM production is now being ramped up after the company’s difficult year we anticipate the new motorbikes are going to be available only in limited numbers.
Our advice to customers wanting a specific model is get your order in now or you could be disappointed and miss out.
After its restructuring, KTM is unlikely to build motorbikes, especially large-capacity models, in the same volumes as before which led to oversupply of some machines.
Instead, it will put more focus into smaller-capacity motorbikes and has already launched 125 and 390 versions of the Enduro R (125, 390) and SMC R (125, 390) and 390 Adventure X and R models.
Stefan Walker, our sales manager, said there might be a silver lining to having fewer large-capacity KTMs in that supply would not outstrip demand which could mean stronger values for used models.
The mid-range used market, for motorbikes between 300cc and 900cc where KTM has several models, is selling well at the moment.
New machines, also priced between £3,000 and £8,000, are also doing well which is good news for our Royal Enfield and CFMoto franchises.
