It seems to have been a long time coming but the wait for Suzuki’s new SV-7GX is finally over.
The new midweight crossover, which gives a new lease of life to the legendary, much-loved 650 V-twin engine, has just arrived at our dealership.
Early customer order SV-7GXs arrived in the first delivery towards the end of last month.
Our demo bike is in the second batch of SV-7GX deliveries which arrives mid-October.
Charlie Lidderth, our Suzuki specialist sales executive, said customers placing new orders now would be looking at getting their SV-7GX in November or December.
We’ve already sold half a dozen SV-7GXs including a couple as a result of the two demo days at our dealership, when Suzuki brought one for test rides as part of its dealer tour, and one at Copdock Bike Show.
“We sold two from the demo days and one customer didn’t even ride it. He hadn’t booked for a demo ride but just looked at it and liked it,” said Charlie.
“A lot of people who are excited about the SV-7GX are people who have owned a V-Strom 650 or an SV650 because this is the next evolution.”
There are strong rumours that the SV650 could make a comeback now the 650 V-twin engine has been updated to meet Euro 5b emission regulations.
Charlie has also read reports in several motorbike publications that an SV650 is listed among 2027 Suzuki models for the American market.
The assumption is that it will also come to UK given its past popularity and the effort Suzuki has put into upgrading the 645cc engine for use in the SV-7GX, which is priced from £6,999.
It now has ride-by-wire throttle, three rider modes and a quick-shifter.
The SV-7GX that Suzuki brought to Copdock Bike Show proved a huge draw on our stand.
“A lot of people were more excited about the SV-7GX than the new Gixxer, the GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition,” said Charlie.
