Suzuki MotoGP double is champion!

As a major Suzuki dealer we're over the moon with the brand’s MotoGP success with Joan Mir winning the world title.

Dave Willis, director, said: “A lot of people who are into bikes follow MotoGP and success on the track does help draw people towards the brand.

“People love to follow in the wheel tracks of these legendary riders by riding bikes that benefit from race-winning technology.”

Mir and fellow Suzuki Ecstar rider Alex Rins have set the pace all season and also landed the team championship for the first time. What better way for Suzuki to celebrate its 100th anniversary?

Suzuki last won the premier title 20 years ago when Kenny Roberts Junior took the 500 GP crown.

Mir is the latest in an illustrious list of Suzuki premier class world champions following Barry Sheene in 1976 and 1977, Marco Lucchinelli in 1981, Franco Unchini in 1982, Kevin Schwantz in 1993 and Roberts in 2000.

We’ve also sold two limited edition MotoGP-inspired GSX-R1000R 100th Anniversary Edition models. Not bad as just 100 bikes were available in the UK and are now sold out.

“We’d sold one and then managed to get another, the last one in the country,” said Dave.

The £16,999 flagship superbike sports shares its retro livery with the GSX-RR MotoGP racers. The traditional blue and slate silver colour scheme pays homage to Suzuki’s early grand prix machines of the Sixties.
