We’re delighted to have played our part in the success of making the new Suzuki GSX-S1000GT 2022’s best-selling sports tourer.
It toppled the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX, another popular model for us, which was the UK’s best-selling sports tourer for many years having been launched as the Z1000SX.
The Suzuki’s achievement was all the more encouraging because it didn’t go on sale until April.
By the end of last year 781 GSX-S1000GTs had been registered. Suzuki is forecasting more than 1,000 in the full year to the end of March.
Dave Willis, one of our directors, said: “The Suzuki GSX-S1000GT has really fired customers’ imaginations and been a very popular choice.
“It really made people take notice of Suzuki again which was great ahead of this year’s new models.
“Some of its success as the best-selling sports tourer might be down to stock issues with its Kawasaki rival which has been the top model for many years.
“But it’s also testimony to how good the GSX-S1000GT is, backed up by rave reviews in the motorcycle press.
“It has a proven engine and gearbox, very nice styling and easy-fit luggage.
“We sold as many as we could get, even our demo bike, and managed to source one from another dealership to meet customer demand.”
The GSX-S1000GT, from £12,499, blends sports and touring capabilities with a flexible, torquey, 152PS four-cylinder engine.
A bi-directional quickshifter and slipper clutch bring out the sporty performance with rapid, smooth changes.
Long-distance touring is boosted by five traction control settings, three selectable power modes and cruise control.
A 6.5in, full-colour TFT screen, with day and night modes, gives all the key information and connects with smartphones for calls, messages and navigation.
