Suzuki GSX-8R wins back-to-back championships

Suzuki’s GSX-8R has won back-to-back titles after Asher Durham and the Powerslide Suzuki team won this year’s British Sportbike Championship.
Durham went into the final round at Brands Hatch with the championship lead, and nearly secured the title in the first race. Leading out of the final turn, he finished third after two riders used his slipstream to out-drag him to the line.
With his title rival not scoring points, a top-10 finish in the second race would be enough and, after playing safe in mixed conditions, he finished seventh.
He took the title with five wins and four more podium finishes.
It was the second title in succession for the GSX-8R. Kas Beekmans won the 2025 championship.
Suzuki GB marketing manager Jak Tyrrell said: “For us, in such a competitive class, it’s also shown just how strong the 8R package is, to win two titles in a row.”
Two Suzuki 8Rs were on the final championship podium with Durham’s teammate Cameron Dawson third overall.
Carl Harris and the ROKiT Rookies team also enjoyed success with the 8R, taking one win and four more podiums.
The 8R, with selectable power modes, traction control, bidirectional quick-shifter and colour TFT screen is £8,999 on the road. It’s on 3.9% PCP or HP with a warranty of up to 10 years.
