Rallying cry for good cause

Directors Dave Willis and Rob Walters have chosen a local good cause to support on their 1,250-mile adventure riding ‘inappropriate’ motorbikes the length of the country.

The daring duo and two friends are this month taking on the Great Malle Rally - the longest motorcycle rally ever attempted in the UK from the southern tip of England to the northern tip of Scotland over five days.

They’ve decided to raise money to help fund The Bus Shelter Ipswich which wants to refurbish a second bus as a homeless shelter.

Dave is riding his Tucano, a Yamaha XT660 customised by Old Empire Motorcycles, Rob: a customised a Ducati Scrambler. And they’re carrying all their clothing and camping equipment.

Dave said: “We used an overnight stay at Stonham Motorcycle Show as a test-run for our camping stuff and loading the bikes up.

“The Bus Shelter Ipswich is a local good cause that’s well worth supporting.”

Riders start at The Lizard in Cornwall and travel the length of Britain across mountains, coasts and valleys, mainly on B-roads, calling in at five rally checkpoints which are secret until the evening before each day’s ride. They are also up against the ‘perfect’ time for the route with the nearest team overall taking the 2019 Great Malle Rally title.
