Daniel Williams bought his first bike, a Yamaha DT175 MX, when he was 15. He’s still got it, having regretted selling it and buying it back again.
“I bought it from a lad at school when I was 15. He broke his leg on it and didn’t want to ride it anymore,” he explained.
“I couldn’t ride it on the road but it was an off-road enduro bike.”
He paid £150 for the 1981 DT175 when it was 14 years old.
“I’ve still got it. I sold it once and regretted it. But the lad didn’t like it and I got it back again.
“I was going to sell it again but I haven’t.”
Daniel took to the road on a Yamaha DT50, then had a Honda MTX125, followed by a Suzuki RGV250 and Suzuki GSX-R600.
After riding the DT175 off road for a few years, he eventually registered it and had an MOT test so it was road legal.
It’s a bike that’s still a big part of Daniel’s life.
“I have no interest in selling it even though I haven’t ridden it for a few years,” he added.
