Movie motorbikes: The Hitman’s Bodyguard

Everyone loves an exciting chase in a film. Daniel Williams, our parts manager, is taken by a cool Triumph Speed Triple’s starring role in The Hitman’s Bodyguard.

This 2017 film also stars Ryan Reynolds, as bodyguard Michael Bryce. He has to protect international assassin Darius Kincaid, played by Samuel L Jackson, who must testify at the International Criminal Court at The Hague. Putting their differences aside, they must work together to get to the trial on time and alive.

One of the highlights is a chase along the narrow streets and canals of Amsterdam with Jackson escaping in a speedboat and Ryan, helped by a stunt double, on the Triumph Speed Triple battling the baddies driving fast, flash cars.

Some fancy trick riding sees the Triumph slicing through traffic, slithering round corners, flying over bridges and even jumping on to the roof of a boat to take a shortcut to take out a baddie with a rocket launcher.

The chase is a gripping part of this action comedy.

“It’s a good film, and funny, and the bike chase brings some added excitement into it,” said Daniel.

“But riding around with a machine gun on your Triumph is not normally recommended!”

Not long after seeing the film, Daniel saw the actual Triumph in the metal as part of a collection of famous bikes on display at the Isle of Man Classic TT.
