KTM relaunches SMT – tasty tourer with supermoto spice

KTM has revealed more details of its new 890 SMT, combining a touch of touring, a pinch of tarmac performance and spices it up with a large portion of supermoto legacy.
The SMT has been relaunched and we’re looking forward to its planned arrival in the showroom next month.
It features a street-focused chassis, adjustable suspension and premium tyres and brakes, to sit between the KTM adventure and street ranges.
It is priced at £12,499 on the road and is now available to order.
The flexible 889cc LC8c parallel twin, reworked for special sport touring emphasis, puts out 105hp at 8,000rpm and 100Nm of torque.
The slimmer fuel tank, designed specifically for the 890 SMT, slides the rider even further ‘into’ the bike with a wide and comfy contact patch on the single-piece Supermoto-shaped 860mm high seat. The aero-optimised, smoked windshield just above the double fender concept adds to its touring credentials.
The rear shock absorber is angled further to reduce seat height and allow a longer swingarm for straight line stability.
The WP APEX suspension, with 180mm of travel, is fully adjustable and complements the 17in wheels.
A state-of-the-art, five-inch TFT dashboard is scratch and glare resistant and fully customisable.
Standard rain, street and sport ride modes can be expanded with an optional track setting with 10 levels of throttle response and traction control.
Stopping power comes from a 320mm front disc and 260mm rear one.
Options include heated grips, motor slip regulation, quickshifter and cruise control.
