Kitted out to beat cold and rain

POSTED: 30/11/2023

Wearing the right kit to keep warm and dry is a key part of winter riding.

We have some new clothing to help riders, and pillion passengers, cope with cold and rain.

Layers are a vital part of dressing for winter riding.

Daniel Williams, our parts, clothing and accessories manager, said: “Layers of clothing trap air and help keep your warm. You can always take layers off if you get too hot.”

The new Rev’It Solar 3 mid-layer thermal jacket has just arrived in our comprehensive display of clothing.

This breathable softshell jacket features PrimaLoft Gold insulation, elastic drawcords and three pockets. It packs away so is easy to carry.

Priced at £135, it looks smart enough to wear as a casual outer layer when you’re off your motorbike.

Merlin has launched four waterproof laminated outer jackets which we have currently on a special price promotion.

  • Merlin Navar D30 in black and grey at £299.99. Made for the active, dual sport rider, it features a high-performance CE AA construction for durability, a laminated outer shell and removable thermal lining.
  • Merlin Flare D30 in grey at £249.99. This fashionable urban riding jacket has been treated with a durable water repellent coating and a laminated back side. It has removable thermal insulation.
  • Merlin Solitude D30 in black and grey at £299.99. A touring style jacket that is lightweight, breathable and waterproof. It features a removable neck guard and thermal lining.
  • Merlin Torque, in midnight camo at £219.99, is a more casual jacket. This modern hoody has a durable water repellent coating and laminated back side so is waterproof and breathable. The thermal lining and hood can be removed.

Dan said water ran off laminated jackets, rather than being absorbed. They felt lighter to wear and dried fully quicker so were ideal for people who rode every day regardless of the weather.
