If you followed the two-wheel Tour de France action you might have spotted new Kawasaki Versys 1100s doing a very important job.
A fleet of Versys 1100s were ‘along for the ride’ as the official motorcycles of the 2025 Tour, which ran from 5-27 July.
They were a crucial part of a huge and efficient infrastructure of organiser support vehicles and will continue this role for the next two years.
Thanks to the adventure tourer’s generous luggage capacity, smooth engine response and all-day comfort, the Versys 1100s were used to ensure road closures were maintained, crowds kept safe and the travelling entourage of competitors, team support vehicles and attendant media pack was able to negotiate each stage unhindered.
With 21 stages and 3,338km of racing, the Versys 1100 was up to the task thanks to its fuel efficiency, engine flexibility, all road surface agility, ergonomic riding position and luggage capacity.
The three-year deal, until 2027, will see the Versys 1100 as the official motorbike for the prestigious and historic race and 21 other European events.
Each Versys 1100 is expected to cover an average of 20,000km in the first year of the agreement.
Kawasaki’s relationship with the world’s most famous cycling race stretches back to the mid-1980s and has previously featured key Kawasaki motorbikes such as the GTR1000 and, more recently, 1400GTR.
