Karting contest proves highly competitive

We recently swapped two wheels for four with a hotly-contested karting competition.

The work outing to Anglia Indoor Karting in Ipswich saw 22 of us take to the track for a series of race heats with the top drivers progressing to the semi-finals and final.

Dave Willis said the karting challenge revived an old tradition but it was the first since he and Rob Walters had taken over the business.

“Competitive levels were high to say the least,” he said.

The eventual winner was Glen Toy, our Kawasaki representative, who was visiting the dealership so joined us for the evening. Sales manager Mark Trench was second and chief technician Gary Greenslade third.

“It was a bit of a surprise. Mark was very quick, just like he is riding a bike on a track.

“I found myself being forced off the track but then they discovered the black flags to penalise the over-enthusiastic drivers. I look forward to a rematch with less black flagging!

“There were quite a few people racing who had kept quiet about having done some karting.”
