Fred’s racing career moves up a gear

High-flying teenage race rider Fred McMullan has an exciting season ahead after joining TeamVal-Tech Racing to contest the British Superbike Championship’s Junior Supersport class.

We’re proud to continue supporting this up-and-coming Suffolk star and keep him on track in his racing career. We’re helping him pay for the specialist leathers he needs for the new season.

The 14-year-old, from Leiston, had a cracking season last year, claiming third place in the Bemsee (British Motor Cycle Racing Club) Team Green Junior Cup and second in the Team Green Championship on his Kawasaki 400 with BD Racing.

He was also awarded the Ben Ball Trophy for the young rider tipped for the top.

But it was his wild card entry for the BSB Junior Supersport class, which was supporting the British round of World Superbikes at Donington last season, which brought him to the attention of TeamVal-Tech Racing.

TeamVal-Tech Racing is an experienced outfit and Fred will be leading its challenge in his and its maiden season in British Junior Supersport. The team will also be taking Fred’s racing career to a new level.

Fred will retain his number 50 but is now riding a Yamaha R3.

Lesley Goulding, his stepmum, said the forthcoming season was a big step up for Fred and he was busy building his fitness and stamina on a cycle turbo trainer and by running.

“We’ve always had confidence in Fred. We knew he had the ability,” she said.

Testing starts next month with round one of the 16-race British Junior Supersport class at Silverstone in mid-April. The season finishes with round eight at Brands Hatch in mid-October.

We’ll be bringing you updates about Fred’s racing throughout the season in our newsletter but you can check out Fred’s Facebook page (@Frodmcmullan) and TeamVal-Tech Racing’s at @ValTechRacing.
