Fred flying with success on track

Fred McMullan, a young race rider we help support, is flying with strong performances on his British Superbikes Junior Supersport debut and as a front-runner in the Team Green Junior Cup.

The 14-year-old from Leiston, who rides for BD Racing UK, had a wild card entry for the BSB Junior Supersport class which was supporting World Superbikes at Donington

Riding his number 50 Kawasaki Ninja 400, which was specially derestricted for the four races, he qualified in 34th position, comfortably making the 40-strong field.

One of the youngest riders, he not only had to battle more experienced competitors but also torrential rain.

He was delighted to take 19th place in the first race as it was a big achievement to finish in the top half.

He backed up his debut success with 33rd place in the second race, 29th in the third and finished the final race in 25th position.

BD Racing UK and team manager Ian Soilleux were over the moon with Fred’s results on his debut competing at this level.

This season Fred is again riding in the ACU Team Green Junior Cup, when his Ninja 400’s power has to be restricted.

He’s currently in third place overall with 197 points after strong performances and podium finishes in many races over the first four rounds at Oulton Park and Snetterton in May, Cadwell in June and Brands Hatch in July.

After finishing second in the first race at Brands, he was leading the second race until his tyres overheated in the scorching temperatures but he won the most unfortunate rider of the round accolade!

We wish Fred all the best for the remaining Bemsee (British Motor Cycle Racing Club) rounds ahead of the season finale on 2-3 October.
