We mark the end of an era this month when Paul Macaree, our Suzuki ambassador sales executive, calls time on working at Orwell Motorcycles.
Paul, who has been with us for 10 happy years, finishes on Friday 20 January.
Now, aged 62, he’s decided the time is right to stop working and enjoy the next phase of his life.
His long and varied working life has also including driving, motorbike courier, running a bed and breakfast and working in the hospitality trade.
But he’s loved his time at Orwell Motorcycles, combining business with pleasure.
“Being a chatty person, this is the best job I’ve ever had.
“I’ve been into motorbikes since I was 11. I was paid to ride a motorbike and now, for 10 years, for talking about motorbikes… and selling them occasionally!
“I’m going to miss talking to people. This work becomes more of a lifestyle thing than anything else. I’ve made a hell of a lot of friends.”
Although he’ll not be selling motorbikes any more, he’ll still be riding them so expect to see him on the road and at bike shows and events.
He’s also looking forward to being able to ride out with friends at weekends.
Director Dave Willis said: “He’s a great character. Our Essex salesman brings a lot of laughter into the showroom.
“Our elder statesman has a great sense of humour and does bring a lot of fun to the workplace. And he sells a lot of motorbikes too!
“He has a unique, friendly style of working with our customers.”
We wish Paul all the best for the future and his next adventures in life.
