The first of Suzuki’s new trio of scooters has arrived in the showroom.
The mid-range Avenis, which boasts sharp, sporty styling, is attracting a lot of attention.
The curvy Address, with its timeless styling, and luxury Burgman Street 125EX are due to arrive in early spring.
Director Dave Willis said: “We’ve had a fair few inquiries about these new Suzuki scooters which is very encouraging given that we’re still in the depths of winter.”
The scooters are big news for Suzuki at a time when many people are looking for cheaper and fun ways to commute and tackle town traffic.
The importance of scooters and small-capacity two-wheeled transport was emphasised in the official 2022 sales figures.
Total powered two-wheeler registrations rose to 116,534 units last year, 1.9% up on 2021 and well ahead of the previous three years, according to the MCIA (Motorcycle Industry Association).
The top four best-sellers were 110 and 125 machines, including three scooters. Altogether five 110 and 125 models made the top 10.
“It’s a great time for Suzuki to really get back into this market which can surely only grow as more people are looking for a cheaper way of commuting and reducing their impact on the environment while saving money,” he added.
The new Suzuki scooters share a punchy 124cc engine, which produces 8.7PS in the Address and Avenis and 8.6PS in the Burgman Street 125EX, and frugal fuel consumption with an official 148mpg.
The Avenis is priced at £2,699, the Address £2,499 and Burgman Street 125EX £2,999.
