Charlie Lidderth has joined the Orwell Motorcycles sales team as our new Suzuki specialist.
It is a career change for Charlie but his passion for motorbikes means he has found his dream job.
This is his first foray into working in a motorbike dealership, having previously been in recruitment, but he sees a link between the two careers.
“I was selling people into jobs and jobs to people so there is some compatibility,” said Charlie, who lives in Hadleigh with his girlfriend and their two English bull terriers.
“I’ve been riding motorbikes for 15 years, since I was 17, but I’ve been into them pretty much all of my life. I used to come here when I was a small boy.”
Having passed his test, he started owning Japanese bikes – three or four Suzuki Bandit 600s, a couple of Kawasaki 750s and a Suzuki SV1000.
Then in 2020 he discovered Ducatis and that really fuelled his passion for motorbikes.
Since then, has owned an 848, a couple of Monsters, a 748 and now he has a Streetfighter V2. He also has a KTM RC8 R and a Suzuki GSX-R750 track bike.
He has settled in well at Orwell Motorcycles.
“Everyone is really helpful. I got thrown in at the deep end the first week of March with the new registration.
“I knew people from being in here as a customer.
“I am enjoying the customers and much of the day is spent talking to people about bikes.
“I fancied a change of career and thought I would want to do something I would enjoy and the thing I enjoy more than anything is motorbikes. I had nothing to lose when this job came up.
“I’m very glad I made the choice. When this job came up I read the description and I thought I had to go for it and I’ve really enjoyed it.”
Away from work Charlie is a runner and has just completed his first 50km ultra marathon.
He also does track days and is now visiting European tracks having ridden most of the UK ones.
