Our first Royal Enfield One Ride was a great success and, like Orwell Motorcycles, was about creating a sense of community and enjoying riding motorbikes.
The annual global event, launched in 2011, unites Royal Enfield owners and riders to celebrate their camaraderie and shared passion for pure motorcycling.
Having taken on the Royal Enfield franchise this year we were keen to get involved, alongside 25 other UK dealerships, by organising our own ride.
Across the world, more than 40,000 riders across 1,500 rides in 60 plus countries took part in Royal Enfield’s One Ride, making it one of the world’s largest annual celebrations of motorcycling.
It began with the first sunrise in the East continuing until the last sunset in the West, creating a true 24-hour global celebration.
Mark Trench, our dealer principal who organised our ride with other members of our team, said: “Thanks to all our customers and everyone who made the first Orwell Motorcycles Royal Enfield One Ride such a success.
“We had far more riders than we had planned for originally and it was great to see everyone out there.”
He said the Royal Enfield One Ride fitted well with Orwell Motorcycles as both aimed to give bikers a sense of community, a chance to chat over a coffee and enjoy the pleasures of riding motorbikes.
Riders gathered in our showroom for a pre-ride coffee and chat and a chance to see the full Royal Enfield range including the new limited edition Goan Classic 350.
Finished in Trip Teal, with orange highlights on the fuel tank and wheels, and fitted with mid-ape handlebar, the Goan Classic 350 is priced at £4,719. It honours and celebrates the free-spirited lifestyle that formed India’s Goan moto-culture during the 1970s and 80s.
We had 71 riders booked on our One Ride and 68 turned up which was a great achievement.
Our riders split into groups and took the route from our Ranelagh Road dealership in Ipswich on to the A1214 to Grundisburgh before taking the B1079 to Woodbridge and A1152 to Rendlesham. Riders enjoyed refreshments at artisan bakery and cafe Harvey & Co at Bentwaters Business Park.
“With so many riders, Harvey and Co’s coffee machine was working flat out so sorry if you had to wait,” said Mark.
But it was not a problem because, with the weather changing to a dry, sunny day, riders were happy chatting and checking out all the splendid Royal Enfields on parade.
