Swim, bike, run! Belinda Dawson is fully focused on her charity ironman challenge.
Belinda, from our parts, clothing and accessories team, is doing Ironman Lanzarote on 23 May.
Her first full ironman will also raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK in memory of stepfather Tom Pettican who died last May.
She has now raised £1,370 of her £3,500 target and hopes more money will be pledged in the final weeks leading up to her challenge.
She has been training hard for the ironman triathlon, made up of a 2.4-mile swim in the Atlantic Ocean, 112 miles on the bike and then a full marathon covering 26.2 miles.
The 140.6-mile triathlon has to be completed in 17 hours with up to two hours 20 minutes for the swim, nine hours for the bike ride and five hours 40 minutes for the marathon.
Belinda, who has completed a handful of half-distance Ironman 70.3s, said her training had been going well.
She went to Lanzarote last month for a week-long triathlon training camp which also allowed her to practise her nutrition routine for race day.
“I did quite a lot of miles on the bike. It was very windy. The training is going to plan but you never know what you will get with the weather.
“Lanzarote has had some unusual weather recently – two or three storms, windy and a lot of rain.”
Belinda will taper down her full training schedule a couple of weeks before the ironman.
“I am feeling pretty good and everything is coming together nicely,” she said.
“I am very excited but very apprehensive as well. Once I start I am fine.”
